An .exe file that appears to be a PDF?
An invisible character can change how a filename appears. Check a fictional example without downloading anything.
What is happening?
Some filenames contain an invisible control (U+202E) that reverses the visual order of letters. Depending on the app, a name that really ends in .exe may appear to end in .pdf. It is not a PDF: opening an unknown executable may be dangerous.
A safe example
A fictional filename with the character shown as a marker: Factura_2026_[U+202E]fdp.exe. An app might display it as Factura_2026_exe.pdf. The test string really ends in .exe. The exact appearance depends on the app and operating system.
How to check in 10 seconds
1. Select “Try the .exe example”. 2. Find U+202E in the result. 3. Remember that this checks the filename text, not the file contents. Do not open unknown files based on their icon or name.
What about other invisible characters?
Many are normal: for example, U+200D helps form emojis. An invisible character is not proof of a scam. This tool cannot detect malware or prove that a file is safe.
